The Rwanda National Ethics Committee (RNEC) was official created on 3rd October 2008 by the Ministerial instructions no 20/37. It’s recognized by the Federalwide assurance (FWA) for the protection of human subjects for international (Non –U.S.) Institutions (FWA Assurance No. 00001973)
The mission of the committee is to examine all the research projects on human body that are to be carried out in any part of Rwanda and all modifications to be affected whatever the nationality of the promoters, and to approve these projects in the first degree.
■ Protect research subjects from exposure to unethical risks or invasion of privacy
■ Contribute to safeguarding the dignity, rights, safety and welfare of research participants
